Family Photos in Half an Hour, Without the Chaos

Family photos are the pictures that get framed and passed down. A little planning keeps them quick, so everyone gets back to the celebration.

      1. 01

        Choose a family helper

Pick one relative who knows everyone on both sides. They gather the next group while I photograph the current one, so nobody is calling names into a crowd.

      2. 02

        Tell everyone ahead of time

Let each person on the list know they are in family photos and where to be right after the ceremony. The roster above shows exactly when each of them is free.

      3. 03

        Biggest groups first

The list starts with the largest groups and works down, with grandparents early. Every time a group finishes, a few more people can head to cocktail hour.

      4. 04

Keep it to the people who matter most

Ten to fifteen groupings fit comfortably in about half an hour. Friends and larger groups are easy to catch later, during the reception.
