Mya & Jacob's Wildflower Engagement at Marvin Efird Park

Mya and Jacob embracing among orange, pink and purple zinnias

The Story

Mya had one request for her engagement photos: flowers. By late August we assumed that was off the table. Most of the summer blooms had faded, so we planned the session around Marvin Efird Park’s pond, its tree line and the open lawn instead.

Then we came around the bend and found a field of wildflowers that none of us had seen there before. It had grown in over the summer, thick with zinnias in orange, pink and purple. Mya got her florals after all, and the second half of the session happened almost entirely in that field.

We started by the water in the early evening light, moved to the porch swing and the open lawn, walked into the wildflowers, and finished on a blanket in the grass as the light got low. Mya and Jacob laughed through most of it, and you can see it in nearly every frame.

There was one more twist. Mya’s engagement party was the following weekend, and she wanted the photos there. I edited the full session in the Loerop Signature and delivered their online gallery within two days, in time to print and share with everyone celebrating them.
