Winnie & Her Bridesmaids: Our Alexander Homestead Wedding Weekend

The Story

Winnie and I were married on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at Alexander Homestead in Charlotte. I photograph weddings for a living, so I did the natural thing and photographed the two days leading up to ours myself.

On Friday afternoon, before our rehearsal at Alexander Homestead, I took Winnie and her bridesmaids out onto the lawn and across the wooden footbridge in the garden. Winnie wore a tiered white lace dress, and her bridesmaids came in blue and blush florals. It was the first time the whole group had stood together on the grounds where we would be married two days later.

Saturday belonged to the celebration dinner, the night before the wedding. That afternoon, Winnie and her bridesmaids got ready together in Charlotte. There are portraits of Winnie in her white sequin dress for dinner and one frame of the whole group in black, but most of the afternoon was spent in matching red satin robes, with Winnie in white: champagne on the balcony, a few quiet minutes with her mom, a selfie, and a game of pool with the 7 and 13 balls set out for our wedding date.

Mathelle and Sri, two of the bridesmaids you will see here, have their own frames with Winnie. A year later, I photographed Mathelle’s wedding in England.

The next morning, Winnie walked down the aisle at Alexander Homestead.
